Art 3/4 assignments-

Do these on your own – when you need help I’m here – feel free to come in at lunch, my prep is period, or after school to work if you need time. You would be wise to bring your work home on the weekends to get things finished up. If you don’t there’s little chance of you getting everything done. Use your time in class wisely – don’t stare off into space or play with your buddies – you’ll do good to make a D, and be very lucky to make a C, if that’s how you work.

Use your sketchbook to rough out ideas for each project – I should be able to look through these and see a correlation of sketches to projects that you will make.

Sketchbook – complete the 30 drawings assignments.

– Series of 4 – work in the style of an artist – your choice – your theme – be original or copy works by your artist – your choice of medium

– Series of 4 – set up a still life and draw it from four different angles – charcoal or graphite at least 12×18 inches – as reaslistic as you can get – shading, texture – create emphasis and contrast – think about unity of objects in still life; how do they relate to each other?

- Series of 2 – same as #2 above but paintings –  use acrylics

– Typographic Illustration – 8×12 inch – tell a story with the picture – can be a personal story from your own life, life of somebody you know, or copied from a book/magazine/comic/movie/etc…

– Ceramics

– Reduction Print

– Pen & Ink – cross hatching/stippling

– Art Period or Style Paper – 5 page written (or whatever that is typed) – and piece of art to go with it – either a copy of work from that period, or a work in your own style that could have been done in that period

– Halloween Haunted House (first semester) – Famous Buildings from History (second semester) – Haunted houses must be based on a style of architecture – any place and any time – Must include a short written description of the style you chose (along with the name)

– Something small – drawn large – abstract Abstract – select a common everyday item and draw a small part of it but larger than life – 18×24 inches minimum – your choice medium

- Papier Mache

– Self portrait from photos – burnt edges – antiqued look

– Mural/Large series on canvas – painted – your choice subject matter – use art history as inspiration

– Monotypes – oil based inks

– Create a work of art as a response to news in the media – can be world news/politics/pop culture/sports/automotive/etc…

– Not a cube – cardboard sculpture – pick a color scheme

– 3d Name/Word sculpture

– Screen Print – 3 color stencil – that means you need to make three stencils – one for each color used.

– Optional – Arkansas Pen Show poster contest – cash prizes

– Animal wraps

– Tattoo a baby doll – an actual doll, not a drawing

– Big grid transfers 18×24″ or bigger

– LARGE.  Pick a project and do it big.  Use the 24×36″ paper.  Paint, pen and ink, pencil, charcoal… it’s up to you.
